We're past the halfway point of a year that has seen life returning to a new normal. New normal may mean many different things but hopefully it at least means times are not so terrifyingly uncertain as they were 12 months ago. As we all continue to adjust, take a few minutes to think about your business and it's website if you have one or need one. Is it still serving your business and your customers as was intended pre-pandemic? Do you now need to reach a greater audience if there is less foot traffic? Do you need to broaden your scope to include social media? Lots of things to consider...!

It's a new year which can be your time for a new ____________. It's up to you to fill in the blank...opportunities, products, services, strategies, relationships, sales goals, customer stream. You get the idea. Pick the one or ones that matter most to you and your business and can make the most impact. For me it's opportunity and strategies, starting out simple -- just prescheduled (I did on Jan 1.) my dates through the year for posts here on the humble blog as well as social media posts and SEO attention. I will also be working more this year to promote programming work in addition to web-related services.
Hopefully by now the hustle and bustle of the holidays has subsided. If you haven't already started, perhaps take the remainder of the month to fill in the blank above for you and your business. As always, if whatever fills in your blank involves your website, social media or being found online, contact us today to learn how we can be of service. Happy New Year and best wishes for a successful year! With today's semi-final victory over England, the U.S. Women's National team is one victory away from repeating as World Cup champions. The title of today's post refers to last week's quarterfinal victory over France. In that match, U.S. coach Jill Ellis used 4 different team alignments throughout the game. This is unusual but served to confound the French team and secure a U.S. victory against its toughest tournament opponent to date. The U.S. team was not reacting to the French...they had planned to change alignments periodically throughout the match. This kind of proactive thinking and planning works in business as well...keeping your competition off balance and always giving your customers a fresh look at your company. Part of doing this is a month-in, month-out strategy to always be refreshing your website and social media content. You need to let your customers, your competitors and maybe most importantly, the search engines, know that your company is a dynamo and everyone needs to take notice. This can be time-consuming while you are working on other facets of your business. This is where we come in! Let's talk about how JG Web Designs can get you noticed Reflections from my yard during a REALLY RAINY midwestern spring...
In business, as in gardening, work and growth are inseparable. In both cases, work is required to make growth happen and in both cases, growth begets additional work. Growth of the garden requires spring cleanup of lawns and flower beds, maybe some turning over of the soil, grass seed, fertilizer, mulch, etc. Businesses require brand building, client acquisition, development of supplier relationships, production, etc. In both cases, if the up front prep work is done and done well, growth happens. Then, a new round of work begins...the garden requires lawn mowing, insecticides, pruning, weeding, etc. Businesses need to strengthen client and supplier relationships, improve efficiencies, manage higher work volumes, add staff and space, etc. We can help your business with the work on both sides of your growth leaving you some precious time to enjoy your garden. While this is usually a worthwhile endeavor in places like your yard, basement, kids' rooms etc., this is also a great time to dust off and freshen up your business. Specifically your business website and social media presence. Is your site in need of a more current look and design? Need to be mobile device friendly? Have new content to add? Need better results in search engines? We can help with any and all of this AND coordinate with and augment your existing social media presence or create one if needed. If you're in the mood for a little more Christmas shopping, why not add your favorite business to the "nice" list? When you do, that's where we come in...a brand new website, mobile-friendly site, search engine optimization or a social media marketing campaign are all gifts sure to please that business. We'd love to help your business start off 2019 on the right foot and reach new levels of success. Merry Christmas and best wishes to all for a prosperous and healthy new year!! Having been an avid runner for 35 years, it was difficult to hear that my running days were over upon receiving a diagnosis of a herniated cervical disc along with a few more 'compromised' discs near the end of 2017. I replaced running with walking because I knew I had to do something to stay moving. When the weather got nice I was happy to add bicycling to the mix. Eventually, several months into this walking/biking thing, I realized that maybe the herniated disc and the surgery that went with it were a blessing in disguise. The prior year of running was starting to feel more and more like drudgery and recovery time was increasing. I didn't want to let it go though as it felt like a big part of me. Ultimately though I realized there were other paths to fitness if I was open to new ideas and new ways to challenge myself. So too in business it happens - maybe what got us fired up and kept us going has lost some of its lustre, appeal, motivation, etc. Maybe it comes by way of forced change as in the example above or maybe by some degree of burnout. In any case, as in the example above and as so beautifully captured in the quote above, open your mind to new paths to success and new ways to challenge yourself. The results will be felt by you, reflected in your work and noticed by your clients and colleagues.
As fall approaches we anticipate the changing colors of trees as in the photo above. After a season spent "lost in green", could the trees be making an effort to set themselves apart and stand out from the crowd? Food for thought as we think about our businesses...In any case, we can use the trees' colorful welcoming of the season as a reminder to think about how to make our businesses stand out from the crowd. For instance: refreshing your website content, having a mobile-friendly website and building your social media presence. JG Web Designs can help with any and all of these and more. It's that time of year...getting kids ready to go back to school. Just as they need to be adequately supplied, outfitted and prepared, so does your business. As we approach the last calendar quarter of the year, this is a great time to start thinking about going "back to school" to freshen up your website, supplement your search engine work and start or expand your social media marketing.
