Having been an avid runner for 35 years, it was difficult to hear that my running days were over upon receiving a diagnosis of a herniated cervical disc along with a few more 'compromised' discs near the end of 2017. I replaced running with walking because I knew I had to do something to stay moving. When the weather got nice I was happy to add bicycling to the mix. Eventually, several months into this walking/biking thing, I realized that maybe the herniated disc and the surgery that went with it were a blessing in disguise. The prior year of running was starting to feel more and more like drudgery and recovery time was increasing. I didn't want to let it go though as it felt like a big part of me. Ultimately though I realized there were other paths to fitness if I was open to new ideas and new ways to challenge myself. So too in business it happens - maybe what got us fired up and kept us going has lost some of its lustre, appeal, motivation, etc. Maybe it comes by way of forced change as in the example above or maybe by some degree of burnout. In any case, as in the example above and as so beautifully captured in the quote above, open your mind to new paths to success and new ways to challenge yourself. The results will be felt by you, reflected in your work and noticed by your clients and colleagues.
As fall approaches we anticipate the changing colors of trees as in the photo above. After a season spent "lost in green", could the trees be making an effort to set themselves apart and stand out from the crowd? Food for thought as we think about our businesses...In any case, we can use the trees' colorful welcoming of the season as a reminder to think about how to make our businesses stand out from the crowd. For instance: refreshing your website content, having a mobile-friendly website and building your social media presence. JG Web Designs can help with any and all of these and more. As of today, the 2018 Tour de France bicycle race is through 15 of its 21 stages. A week from now we'll know who will wear the yellow jersey on the podium indicating the overall winner of this grueling event. Having a website for your business should be approached like riding in Le Tour. In other words, it's a process. It's a journey. It's not always the same. Just as the Tour has long mileage days, grueling hill days and time-trial sprints, maintaining your business website as an effective tool to support your business has different demands. Periodic checkups for search engine optimization, social media marketing along with all the other aspects detailed on our Website Lifecycle page are an on-going process. While some riders earn a jersey as top sprinter or "king of the mountains", you want your website to earn the yellow jersey as overall leader in your business category. Contact us today to see how we can help you get there.
Have a website that's getting a little long in the tooth? If your website was created more than a few years ago, there's a chance that it's not mobile-friendly. Years ago it was enough to just have a website to establish an online presence. Today it's imperative for that same website to be available and useful on any size screen your visitors use. Spend a few minutes looking at sites presented in a Google search. Look closely and you may see that Google "tags" the sites that it knows are not mobile friendly. If your site is tagged as such, this can have a negative impact on your site's position in search listings.
Your site should effectively present a page in a useful format whether viewed on a laptop or on a phone as shown in the screenshots below. If it's time to update to a mobile friendly site, contact us today to learn how we can help

Each one listed above has its devotees and each has a niche. Even if your website has the content and tools to best guide your customers and prospects, in this day and age it's a must to use a comprehensive strategy using at least several of the services above to get your message out and drive visitors to your site.
